Unfortunately, its not all vintage thrifting fun and garden planning. Real life happens here too. We're sick.
Almost everyday this week I've had at least one kiddo home from school with a fever, or an upset stomach or a bad cough. And with S gone, it makes things like getting to the store and to the gym impossible.
The Extreme Home Makeover team is in town this week and we had really hoped to get over there to see what we could see and to drop a few canned foods off. But that didn't happen.
Instead we've been inside quite a bit in sick mode. My grandmother always made tapioca pudding if anyone was ever sick. I love tapioca, but my boys do not. So, we have our own sick traditions emerging. Here is what that looks like at our house.
:: Lots of vitamin C in the form of clementines and some great blood oranges found at the commissary.
:: Phone calls to Oma and Grandad (my parents who are iced in in TX).
:: Viewing the Eagle Cam from the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, one egg, awaiting more.
:: Reading the boys a great English fairy tale about how all the birds came to build their nests to differently, The Magpie's Nest.
:: Playing lots of mexican train dominoes.
:: Watching Sitting Ducks via hulu.
:: Potato Leek Soup for all. Added bacon, avocado and cheese to mine...yum!
:: Cozy blankets and lots of snuggle time with the animals.
So, what is your recipe for a sick day?
