Sonya, sweet, sweet Sonya of Knitsonya(which I Iove) was giving me a bit of a hard time last week in a comment and asking me if I had turned my blog into a food blog. And one might think so by the topics of the last several posts...minus Father's Day, of course. I hadn't realized it, but I guess the blog has been a reflection of how we have been spending most of our extra time. In the garden raising food, researching how to cook new items from our CSA, locating more sources for local food.
And we have been talking a lot about where our food comes from and who grows it.
But, no.
This space has not become a food blog. I promise!
And here's your proof:
Wide leg lounge pants from Amy Butler's In Stitches. I might be the last person on the planet to make these. But after seeing these, and these and yes, these in orange over here, I couldn't stand it any longer! I had to make them. I used a thrifted sheet picked up ages ago. The Value Village price tag was still attached and said .98 cents.
It felt good, oh so good, to sew something for myself. It's been awhile. End of the year teacher gifts for Ian and Zane's kindy teachers were even put off until the very last minute so that I could finish these pants. I wore them out into the garden to do the evening watering before bed because, well, that seemed to be the most appropriate place for a quick photo shoot. Afterall, that is where we have been doing most of our lounging these days.
I knew from others who have made these, that the pattern tended to run a bit big. But I cut them out as directed for the appropriate size. They fit great through the hips and legs, but were about two inches too long. Which is no surprise. Heck, at 5"1' inches tall cropped pants are too long.
Oh, and the newly added garden bench is a long (almost 10 foot) piece of driftwood we drug back from the beach last week. It has just the most wonderful bleached out, weathered look to it. I just knew we had to do something with it. So, we laid it across some cement blocks and it makes the most perfect garden bench. I love it almost as much as the pants!
So, there you go Sonya. This is most definitely not a food blog. However, I can't guarantee that the next three posts will not involve food. Happy weekend lounging! I'm going back out into the garden.
