I woke up at 4:30 a.m. with my little one who is getting used to sleeping in his own room and in a big boy bed. He's doing really well, but usually finds his way into our bed about that time. I usually welcome him in and try to get another hour or so of rest before the day begins. But this morning I couldn't get myself back to sleep.
So my day was started a little earlier than I would have liked it to. We are slowly slipping back into our usual morning routine...with a few changes. I used to preset our Krups to make a full pot of coffee in the morning knowing that S would have a cup before he left for work and then I would have a cup (or two or three). And then whatever else was left was either put into the frozen in ice cube trays or put into the fridge for a 3 p.m. pick me up. Yep, pretty much coffee off and on all day...a family trait.
The first few mornings here in this house were "operation normal". Until I realized that without S, I had almost a half a pot left each day. Not good. I had been gifted a coffee press last Christmas from my friend Dana and had used it a few times just for the sake of novelty. It is quickly becoming my best friend now days as it makes just the perfect amount for just little ol' me.
But I need some advice from some of you more experienced coffee pressers. If you look closely you will see small brown specs in my coffee cup (and my unpressed tablecloth). How do you keep from getting some of the grounds in the coffee? Am I grinding the coffee too finely? Or is that just part of the :charm: of it all?
Happy hump day everyone...I can not believe it is August already. Can you? Pour yourself another cup, its right over there on the counter and we can discuss where the heck the summer has gone.
