There have been several "awards" going around blogland and I have been tagged for the thinking blogger award twice. I do not usually reciprocate these little things because they remind me too much of chain letters? Know what I mean? I always agonize over who to "tag" next and I usually end up just not doing it. But the two who tagged me, are such wonderfull sweet women, and fellow farmgirls, how can I not respond?
Vanessa, a fellow Farmgirl, of Yaweh's Retreat and Beach Girl's Pics is an amazing woman, mama, and Christian. She is raising her three boys on her own on the Outer Banks of N. Carolina. Her photos and stories of small town island life take you to another world. Stop by and say hello.
And Sue of Herbal Farmstead and Country Pleasures, another fellow Farmgirl has just about the best peanut butter cookie recipe around. S. can not eat them as they have flour in them, but the boys and I eat them up! If I could pick my neighbors, Sue would definitely be on my list. Thank you both.
Then there is this award that Jojo from Stardustshoes came up with on her own guilt blogger award. Yes, I am tagging myself with this one as I am more than qualify in almost all of the areas she mentioned.
1. Guilty for reading your blogs instead of doing laundry, dishes, and cleaning that damned white tile floor...yep.
2. Guilty for not responding to comments and emails quickly enough if at all...yep.
3. Guilty of not posting pics of swap packages in a timely manner. Yep and yep.
4. Guilty of taking a gazillion photos of different things for the blog and then never posting them. yep.
5. Guilty of signing up for swaps that I know I dont have time to complete just because they look like so much fun. yep.
And in other news, I have happily jumped on the Moo Cards bandwagon. I got mine in the mail yesterday and can not say enough good things about them. Love, love, love them. They remind me of old time calling cards...you know the ones ladies used to leave after they had visited with just their names. My moo cards have some of my favorite flickr photos on the front with my name, blog address, email address and phone number.
And on a total random note, look! I have a real sugar bowl and matching creamer! Can you tell how excited I am? Now I don't have to get down the big gallon sized plastic container of sugar from the pantry everytime I need just a spoonful. I have had the Marcrest Stetson creamer for quite awhile, found at Value Village several months back. But then I found the sugar bowl and lid on ebay the other night for really cheap. It arrived yesterday as well, and I am so happy I could invite you all over for a cup of tea this afternoon. However, I am not a tea drinker unless it is made the Southern way...iced so suggary it makes your teeth hurt. Picture pouring this whole little sugar bowl full of sugar into a pitcher if iced tea...yes, that is how I like it. But come over anyway, we'll have coffee.
And lastly, plans are in the works for a going away party for the older boys and their friends in a few weeks. We will be in transit during their birthdays in June and it will probably be spent with extended family and not with their friends as they are already planning. I thought this would be a nice way for them to still be able to have a party with their friends and to say good bye as well. Im thinking since we are moving back to the beach that a sand and shells theme would be fun, postcards printed with our new address so that their old friends can easily become pen pals, etc. Any ideas you might have, please pass them along. My brain doesn't seem to be functioning on its normal mama level today.
Adios for now amigas! I need to get myself going and do something other than sit here at the computer. See the above #1.
P.S. Over the weekend, I unearthed my Barbie collection from when I was a kid. Some of the Barbies are not worth anything and will be "repurposed". But some of them ( a Midge and a 1960s Barbie with 3 wigs) are really quite fun. And I have a ton of clothes, some are hand crocheted. If anyone is interested in them, please shoot me an email. the first one who emails me, gets them.
