It was almost a year ago that I started my blogging adventure, first over at blogspot and now here. It is no coincidence that I started writing again when I did. This morning we woke up to thunder snow - a wicked thunderstorm with snow falling instead of rain. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of snow before moving to this part of the country. The skies are grey, without much sunny shine and have been for several days now. However this little cardinal did not seem to mind so much. A promise of Spring? I hope so.
I know I started the blog partly as a creative outlet for myself, partly to stay connected to family and friends, and partly to document aspects of my family life (past and present). But thinking about how this time of the year can be very difficult for me, I think I started the blog more for the connection to the outside world.
Blogging for me has been full of surprises about myself and others. As for myself, I have discovered many different ways of seeing beauty in my crazed world that I would have not opened my eyes to otherwise. Blogging has meant a return to writing after a long, long absence. I have learned new domestic crafty skills that will serve me well in the years to come. I have learned patience and how to sit still. However, what I had not counted on was witnessing the extreme generosity of fellow bloggers. Your generosity toward me, but also to the rest of the world. Thank you all so much for kind words when things were rough, for amazing packages wrapped to perfection and the new friendships. And thank you for being such giving spirits in your local communities and to our global community.
Here is a transcript of my first entry.
