The first munchkin came winking into the kitchen at 6:55 a.m. After a little snuggle and some chocolate milk, I asked him what his favorite number was? He said five, because he is going to be five on his birthday. Then I asked him to pick a number between one and sixty five. He picked five.
So, the winner is number five who happens to be Kirsten! Congrats lady! Email me your addy, and Ill pop the little rug in the mail to you. And for the rest of you...where the h-e-double hockey sticks have you all been this whole time??? I was blown away with all of the comments and kind words. But from now on, I fully expect to hear from you more often. I am so glad to have found so many new kindred spirits and wonderful blogs.
And on the craft/sewing space organizing front. All went well and I am proud to announce it is finished! Here are a few photos and please remember, these photos were taken in the basement so there is mostly artificial light which doesn't make for the best photos.
I thought I would make some dishcloth sewing machine covers via Whipup and MS. But while folding the inordinate number of vintage pillowcases in my collection, I made a little discovery. Pillowcases make great sewing machine covers. I didn't even crop the bottoms off and hem them. I just folded the bottoms in and pulled them over the machines. You never know, I might need the cases for another project later. Or I just might want to change the covers with the seasons. Lord knows I have enough pillow cases to do that.
Behind the sewing machines is an old enamel table top from a kitchen table. Originally we cut the legs down to use as a coffee table and used it that way for many years. One too many table dances from little boys ended its life as a coffee table and it has again been repurposed. I need some more magnets to put up more clippings and fabric samples. But I like it as a new magnetic bulletin board.
And fabric organized and folded...vintage sheet goods on the left, fabric from my Grammer's stash above it in the white bin with fat quarters next to that. And pillowcases folded on the bottom right with a few more above that I (I ran out of room). And there is larger pieces of fabric stored in clear totes in the shelving beneath the sewing machines. I spared you photos of every little inch of this space being that not all of it is so pretty to look at.
So now that it is all organized and ready for work, I am expecting great things from myself.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We got more snow and are still freezing our bums off here. Those of you in the South, please send some warmer weather our way. We are ready.
