We are home today from pre-school due to the cold temperatures. The garden thermometer says it is -8 degrees outside. We are still in our pjs and slippers and this mama is wracking her brain for appropriate and quiet inside activities yet another day. But this has provided the perfect time to work on our valentine's! There are 16 kids in Ian and Zane's pre-school class. And times two boys in the same class equals 32 valentine's total to make. Last year it took us almost a week to get them all done and the project ended with me staying up until the wee hours of the night finishing them. So, this year I have decided we are getting a jump start and with a project more along the lines of "simple is better". This is what I have some up with - a heart shape, hand written message inscribed, then folded into the shape of an envelope. It can't get much easier than that.
I saw this done somewhere last year and filed it away in the mommy brain. And now I can not remember where...do you do that too? So, if there is an appropriate link I need to provide, please let me know. But here is how we did it.
1. Cut a heart shape out of colored card stock.
2. Fold the sides in to the center (it is a little easier if the bottom is folded slightly narrower than the top).
3. Fold the top down and the bottom up making the bottom slightly overlap the top.
4. Insert the bottom point of the heart under th top part of the heart.
5. Secure with a sticker or tie it with a with a ribbon.
Oh, and thank you all (I am resisting using ya'll there) for helping with my barter below and for all the kind words. I found new homes for many of my treasures and am expecting several packages with the needed items to finish my projects. What a deal!
