We are starting to thaw out. Here is one of Ian's penguins enjoying the sunshine and thinking about a dip in the puddles that are everywhere in the backyard.
Whew! And what a week it has already been. I have been on a frenzy the past few days to get my ducks in a row so to speak. Or penguins in a row as the photo might suggest. I have gone through all of Wyatt's clothes again and donated and re-gifted lots and lots. I have also sorted through his toys and gotten rid of almost all of the baby toys. He never really played with them ever and prefers to play with the big boys' toys. So, there is one small basket of toys in his room....that's it. Now books, that is another story. His little corner cabinet is almost completely full of books that I need to get to next. Those with torn covers and missing pages really need to go.
I have signed on with Amstershiresauce to Simplify in '07 and it has really given me a jump start. I have been going through closets, drawers and piles and asking myself the tough questions. Do I really need this? Does it make me light up with a smile when I see it? When was the last time I wore this? And getting honest..."You probably aren't going to loose those last 10 baby lbs. anytime soon. Get rid of it!" It always helps to actually commit do getting something done.
On the blog front, I have also been doing a little organizing. In preparation for Spring and gardening season, I have added a few new links to the gardening/farming area. Of special note, Mary Jane's Farm and Baker Creek's Heirloom Seeds. More on these two in tomorrows post.
I have also subscribed to Bloglines to help me manage my blog reading obsession. I know, I know....I am the only one in the world who hasn't done this yet. But it is really helping save time and keep up with everyone. So, subscribe away, I have an account now.
Oh, and one last little ducky thing that has been in the works since December. I HAVE A SHOP! There I will be able to share some of my vintage loves and thrifting victories with you all and make a little money on the side. You know a mama's gotta have a little cash stash too you know. There is not much there yet. I just got it all finished last night, but I will update you here when there is more available.
In the mail this week, I received the new purse I ordered from Spiritual Knitter via Etsy. She also included lots of felted sweater scraps! Woohoo! I can not wait to come up with something for those. My brain is working already.
Also in the mail, the final three books that I ordered right after Christmas. I thought they would NEVER come! But I now have Sublime Stitching, Mary Jane's Farmbook, and One Skein. I have projects waiting in the wings for these books to arrive. Of course I cheated on my not wanting to buy more diet in buying these books, but I had a gift certificate....I HAD to. *wink*
All of the packages are out from the barter post. If you offered, something in trade, your package is in the mail. Thanks for all of the happy bartering!
