Today I had a list (don't I always) a mile long of things to do today. Yesterday the older boys came home from preschool with backpacks that were about to fall apart. Their bottoms had apparently been drug along the pavement one to many times. So we needed to look for new ones and I knew it was not going to be easy this time of year. We need fish foot, poor Reggie is in serious need of cat food. It is a good thing that he tends to be the Benji kind of cat and gets royally spoiled by the neighbors. The grocery store is always a must for katsup, peanut butter, milk, apples, Cheerios of course and the like.
But today it was like herding turtles to get them to do anything. It took us 20 minutes just to get our socks on...seriously. Even after dangling the "new backpacks" carrot in front of them a gazillion times, it just wasn't happening. At 11 a.m. we were all finally dressed and ready to go, but by then we were close to lunch and Wyatt's nap. So I gave up.
I spent the rest of the afternoon coming up with "fun" things for everyone to do. Forts, duels, fires to put out and damsels to save. Wyatt did not crash for a nap until 2 p.m. I guess we could have gone afterall. Zane announced at 4 p.m. that he needed a little rest, so he voluntarily took a nap. So Ian and I did some cleaning, meaning Ian organized the sea glass while I cleaned the kitchen. Which is a good thing because the stove was a disaster and the white tile floor always need a good scrubbing on hands and knees. The day was not a total wash. Just not what I had planned and that is OK.
