The Great Pumpkin

Another quintessential representation of fall is the pumpkin; large, round, vibrant and jovial. I'm not sure what it is about these unique specimens (color, shape, size, symbolic meaning) that makes them so enchanting but they are just that.
It's time today, to offer a seasonal ode to the great pumpkin!
Leafy Love

Everyone knows that the symbol for this season is the falling leaf. The glorious texture, color, and shape of these treasures never ceases to amazing me. No two are ever alike and I never tire of shooting images of them.
Find a way to capture a leaf, or leaves today that says something totally new.
Fall Color
Prompt:
The turning of the seasons can bring with it colorful displays. Even in California, signs of the changing can be discovered, when you really look.
Shoot something today that boasts rich, quintessential colors of fall.
Rhythm of Repetition
Prompt:
In any basic art or photography class, you learn about the effective use of repetitive shapes and/or form in art. When you distill things down to simple shape or color and then repeat it in the frame, there is a rhythm and a rhyme that is most pleasing to the eye.
Look for some soothing repetition in your daily routine to remind you how peaceful it can be.
Darks and Lights

With the sun setting earlier and earlier each evening, it's easier to really notice the sky's transformation from day to night. There is something mysterious about an autumn sky. When you shoot your subject against the dusk, you can capture pretty amazing silhouettes. This gives you the opportunity to focus your editing on one major element: the color of the sky.
Shoot a silhouette today and then take that shot into your photo-editing software and play with sky treatments. Light, darks, contrast, vignettes, color…whatever tickles your autumn fancy!

Relationships are one of the most important elements of the human experience. Today simply observe the many connections that are happening not only in your own life, but in the whole world around you. Poignant, tender, humorous or otherwise, capture a connection today that makes you happy.
Juxtaposition
Prompt:
Today, seek something out that tells that kind of story, something that consists of two seemingly opposites or a scene that brings more than one feeling to the shot. Shoot for something that contradicts itself or challenges your beliefs.
